I recently encountered a 3m juvenile white shark off Albany, Western Australia whilst spearfishing. I was in 16m of water when it came from behind at speed. The first I knew was the shadow above me and the the shark turning about 6-8m in front of me, giving me a complete side profile. It circled me slowly then came in again at speed but you could definitely see the shark turn away at approx 4-6m before it disappeared into the depths.
